LEFTOVER WAVE

Grad Project

Course: COMD 410

In China, if you are an unmarried woman over the age of 27, you will be stigmatized as a "leftover woman." I took on this issue as a school project because, when I was 23, my family started urging me to get married. Upon investigating the widespread prevalence of this phenomenon in China, I discovered that the concept of "leftover women" was created by politics and the media.

I believe that the best way to fight against this strong and stubborn political concept is by letting girls gather their own voices and deconstructing the notion of "leftover women." That's why I built a platform to empower girls and let them help each other. The goal is to promote self-acceptance and to resist societal pressures and stereotypes.

Face Filter

Made by Spark AR

The face filter is a way for women to "fight back" in their own way and speak up for their real voices in the public sphere. It serves as a statement that our personal identity and value should not be determined by our marital status and that we are resisting the stereotypical influences and marital anxiety that have been imposed upon us.

By using this face filter, we can redefine the term "leftover women" and send a message that we are strong, confident, and proud of who we are, regardless of our marital status. This project is about empowering women and promoting self-acceptance in a world where societal expectations and pressures can sometimes be overwhelming.

In conclusion, the face filter project is a creative and impactful way to challenge stereotypes, promote confidence in women, and stand up against societal pressures. I hope that this project will inspire others to join the fight against negative stereotypes and embrace their true selves.

Posters

The voice of the leftover women needs to be truly expressed and open to the public. This is a concept that "Leftoverwave" has always followed. We must "fight back" against the anxiety brought to us by the outside world in our own way. We encourage participants to speak up and represent our real voices in the public sphere. We must express that our personal identity and value are not determined by our marital status and resist all stereotypes and influences imposed on us. The posters can be downloaded in the website with digital file, share it on social media, or print and post it in any place where our voices are needed.
